Design Editors
Seeing my artwork in a video game is pretty cool
There are two things that I enjoy in life more than anything else, video games and drawing/design software. So I’m sure it wouldn’t be a big surprise if I told you that video games with robust design editors make me extremely happy. The lead in image for this blog post is a design I created in Forza Motorsport 7. I’ve been the playing the Forza series of games for a number of years now (Motorsport and Horizon). I enjoy the driving mechanics and the amount of detail put into the game’s presentation, but it’s the design editor that has always been the biggest draw for me.

There’s something very satisfying about seeing one of my character designs slapped across the side of an expensive sports car. Setting a great lap time with that same car takes it to another level. It’s completely irrelevant that I wouldn’t destroy a car’s paint job like that in real life. Spending hours trying to combine shapes, layers and color to make my creations is an enjoyable timewaster. It also helps that Forza’s design editor is the deepest I’ve played with in a video game. If you have experience stacking shapes in a vector graphics program like Inkscape or Adobe Illustrator, it’s easy to recognize the depth of the editor. This design is up and ready for download in Forza Motorsport 7 and Horizon 5. If you are downloading it in Horizon 5, you can find AudiRat using the share code 183340535. Be sure to hop on the game (or games) and drop a like to show your support for my work. I’ve got more on the way so check back soon for the next post. I’ll be uploading more of my Forza design adventures in future posts.
